Terrorist Royal Marine Ciaran Maxwell jailed for 18 years

Ex-Royal Marine Ciaran Maxwell, who lived a double life as a bomb-maker for dissident Irish republicans, has been jailed for 18 years.
Maxwell, 31, made 43 purpose-built hides across England and Northern Ireland, in which he stashed anti-personnel mines, mortars, ammunition and 14 pipe bombs - four of which were later used.
As well as bomb-making materials, a Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) pass card, a PSNI uniform and a police stab-proof vest were found in barrels and buckets buried in the ground.

Identity fraud reaches record level with almost 500 cases a day - Cifas

People are warned about what they share on social media as identity fraud hits record levels - with most of it happening online. Identity fraud is soaring to "epidemic levels" with almost 500 cases a day reported, it has been warned. There were more than 89,000 cases in the first six months of 2017 in the UK - a record number and up 5% from the same period last year, according to the fraud prevention service Cifas.
