Shark victim Tiffany Johnson pulled 'mangled stump' from jaws

While snorkelling in the Bahamas, Tiffany Johnson found herself "face-to-face with the shark and he had my arm in his mouth".

A woman who lost part of her arm after being attacked by a shark says her faith in God helped her survive the ordeal.
Tiffany Johnson, from North Carolina, was snorkelling near a reef near Nassau in the Bahamas while when she felt something bump her from behind.
Turning, she says she found herself "face-to-face with the shark and he had my arm in his mouth".
"I went to yank back my arm and that's when he latched on harder and we started to struggle," she said.
"I kept trying to yank my hand back and the last time I yanked he had cut it clean off so I was able to actually get free," Mrs Johnson added.
"I remember just pulling my arm out and just looking at it and seeing that it was just this mangled stump. And I just threw off my snorkel mask and screamed: 'Help me, help me, Jesus'."
Her husband James was in a boat about 20 feet away and jumped into the water when he heard his wife's screams.
As he helped her back to the boat, he said: "I was just praying the whole time that the shark wasn't following us."
Mrs Johnson was rushed to a Bahamas hospital where doctors managed to stop the bleeding, but she lost her limb from her hand to her elbow.
The mother-of-three was airlifted to Charlotte to have multiple surgeries and will have another operation on Friday to help prepare her right arm for a prosthetic, which she expects to receive in the coming months.
Still, she says: "Who cares about a limb... it's a limb but I'm here."
Mrs Johnson is in no doubt who she thanks for her escape: "It's just God. There's no other explanation. I just had this supernatural, God-given strength that just rose up within me.
"I was thinking this is not the end for me, he is not going to take my life, I am not going to allow it to," she said.
"I prayed for my kids, I prayed for the doctors that would be touching my arm... I even prayed that God would use this for his glory.
"If you really listen to this story you will understand that there is no other explanation but God," she added.

Paul Kagame wins Rwandan election to secure third term

The former guerrilla leader extends his 17 years of rule by securing a huge majority of the vote. Rwandan President Paul Kagame has secured a third term in office with around 98% of votes, partial results have showed. US Marine Corps plane 'nearly flattened' in deadly Mississippi crash

The transport aircraft "spiralled into the ground" with one engine smoking before scattering bodies over a mile in the crash. A US military plane crashed into a field in Mississippi and exploded, killing all 16 people on board. The plane was described as "twirling around" before it plummeted into a soybean field in rural Leflore County, 85 miles (135km) north of Jackson in the Mississippi Delta at 4pm (9pm GMT) on Monday.
