The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) has established the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub to explore the social science of blockchain technology. In an announcement today, RMIT unveiled details of the research center focused on blockchain technology, an innovation that the university believes will become “a core infrastructure for the global economy.” The hub is being proclaimed as the world’s first research center aimed at exploring the social science of blockchain technology. Saudi Arabia denies facilitating what the UN calls an “entirely man-made catastrophe” in Yemen, which has killed over 1,000. Saudi Arabia has angrily rejected a UN report condemning its involvement in Yemen’s devastating civil war. Florida has declared a state of emergency, asking Mr Trump for a "pre-landfall" emergency declaration as the storm heads its way. Hurricane Irma, which is heading towards the Caribbean and southern United States , could bring winds of 185mph. The US National Hurricane Centre said Irma was "potentially catastrophic" and tweeted that it was "the strongest hurricane in the Atlantic (Ocean) outside the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico in NHC records". The Nobel prize winner launches a strident attack on the decision to suspend the programme protecting undocumented migrants. Former US President Barack Obama has said Donald Trump's decision to roll back the "dreamers" programme is "wrong" and "cruel". In a long Facebook post  made on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Obama said that the move was a "political decision, and a moral question" that was not required legally. "We shouldn't threaten the future of this group of young people who are here through no fault of their own, who pose no threat, who are not taking away anything from the rest of us," he wrote. Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will end  the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, giving a six month window for Congress to put forward an alternative. South Korean regulators are reportedly strengthening the regulation and monitoring of digital currencies including bitcoin. South Korea’s digital currency task force – a group comprising of the country’s central bank, financial regulators and digital currency companies – have discussed increased regulatory oversight into trading and business practices as a means to further consumer protection efforts. According to Business Korea, the task force held a joint meeting on Sunday where authorities planned to introduce these increased regulations for trading among the country’s domestic exchanges. The meeting, which was attended by the National Tax Service (NTS) and the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) also saw plans drawn toward strengthening user authentication procedures at exchanges as well as ‘suspicious transaction reporting’ systems at banks for transactions related to digital currencies.
